PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) softball team swept its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) softball doubleheader with Lasell University on Friday afternoon action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Game One: Wildcats 10, Lasers 0 (6 inn.)
Junior Jadyn Torres launched her first collegiate home run – a three-run blast in the fourth – as the Wildcats rolled in the opener. The El Paso, Texas native finished with two hits and two runs scored while classmate Mady Lyons went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and an RBI double. Senior Mackenzie Clee notched a pair of hits and drove in one, as did classmate Caroline Amorelli and sophomore Amanda Madigan. Senior hurler Katie Scheid tossed six innings of two-hit ball to record her eighth win of the season. She walked one and struck out three.

Game Two: Wildcats 11, Lasers 2 (5 inn.)
Sophomore Macy Pagano smacked a two-run home run and finished with five RBI to help JWU to its sixth-straight win. A two-run double off the bat of Torres in the fourth, followed by a RBI double from Clee and a sac fly from Lyons, highlighted a six-run fourth inning for the Wildcats. Pagano, along with senior Danielle Floyd and sophomore Chloe Brunelle, all finished with two hits. Fresh off a no-hitter against Massachusetts Maritime on Wednesday, junior Jillian Reed scattered six hits and surrendered two runs with one walk and one punchout over five to tally her sixth win of the season.
