Baseball drops doubleheader to Pacers to close spring break

CARY, N.C. – The JWU (Providence) baseball program wrapped up its spring break trip with a pair of losses to William Peace Friday evening in non-conference action at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

Game One: Pacers 9, Wildcats 3
Junior Jack Obert drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth, followed by a two-run single off the bat of senior Ryan Ducey to account for the JWU scoring. Senior Zachary Amero and freshman Jeff Valdez Jimenez each picked up two hits for the Wildcats, who trailed 7-0 after four. Senior starter Ryan Schultz surrendered four hits and four runs (three earned) in 2.0 innings of work.

Game Two: Pacers 6, Wildcats 3
Amero and senior Owen Davis each brought in a run with a groundout and senior Xavier Botelho plated another when he walked with the bases loaded. Junior starter Max Randazzo got the start on the bump and went five innings, allowing seven hits and four runs with three walks and seven punchouts.
