Wildcats outscore Rams 22-1 in doubleheader sweep

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The JWU (Providence) softball team secured its first two wins of the season with a sweep of North Central (MN) Tuesday at The Spring Games in Florida.

Wildcats 10, Rams 0 (5 inn.)
Sophomore Jessica Forneiro went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and freshman Harper Ellis had a pair of run-scoring singles as the Wildcats rolled to their first win of the season. Freshman Morgan Pelletier also plated a pair with a two-run single in the second in support of freshman starter Hailey Cardiello, who fanned seven over five one-hit innings to notch her first collegiate win.

Wildcats 12, Rams 1 (5 inn.)
Junior Mady Lyons smacked a solo home run and drove in three runs, seniors Hailey Martins and Danielle Floyd each laced a two-run single to spark the JWU offense. Senior Caroline Amorelli, along with Lyons and sophomore Amanda Madigan, each finished with two hits and senior Katie Scheid allowed two hits and one run with two walks and four strikeouts in five innings of work.
