Wildcats edge Gusties, fall to Wolves in Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Senior Katie Scheid tossed a three-hit shutout for the JWU (Providence) softball team in a 2-0 win over Gustavus Adolphus Thursday morning at The Spring Games. The Wildcats dropped their second game of the day to Alvernia.

Wildcats 2, Gustues 0
Junior Mady Lyons doubled in the only run the Wildcats needed in the first to score senior Mackenzie Clee. Lyons came around to score later in the frame on a fielding error to double the lead, and Scheid slammed the door from there. She walked one and struck out three to even her record at 2-2.

Wolves 9, Wildcats 5
The Wolves scored six times in the top of the first and pounded out 16 hits against JWU. Freshman Harper Ellis went 2-for-4 with two RBI while senior Caroline Amorelli ripped an RBI triple in the bottom of the first and sophomore Jessica Forneiro plated sophomore Gabby Bellamore in the sixth. Junior Jillian Reed suffered the loss, allowing 14 hits and nine runs (eight earned) with two walks and five strikeouts in five innings.
