Buccaneers outlast slugfest with Wildcats, 16-13

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – Sophomore Jack Davis racked up six points for the JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse team in a 16-13 loss to Massachusetts Maritime Academy Tuesday night in non-conference action at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Freshman Matthew Bancroft added his first five collegiate goals while senior Donny McInnis netted four for the Wildcats (2-2), who also received two assists and four ground balls from sophomore Jack Donnelly.

With the game tied at 11 entering the fourth, freshman Greyson Doyle scored his fourth goal of the season to give JWU a one-goal lead. The Buccaneers responded with five unanswered goals to move in front 16-11 with 3:49 remaining, two of which came with the extra attacker.

The Wildcats were outshot 61-34 and received a career-high 18 saves from freshman goalie Andrew Sforza. Freshman Tyler Chiccino caused a team-high three turnovers.
