PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore
Jack Donnelly and freshman
Jacob Tresser each scored twice for the JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse team in a 10-9 win over Norwich University Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Sophomore
Jack Davis chipped in with a goal and three assists as the Wildcats (4-4, 1-1 GNAC) received goals from eight different student-athletes, including seniors
Jackson Vecchio (1G) and
Kyle Marcinko (1G), sophomore
Jacob Graham (1-1-2), and freshmen
Matthew Bancroft (1G) and
Greyson Doyle (1G).
The Wildcats held a one-goal halftime lead behind tallies from Tresser, Marcinko, Bancourt, Vecchio, Donnelly, and Graham. The Cadets opened the second half with three-straight goals to open up an 8-6 lead before goals from Donnelly (7:14) and Davis (2:19) sent the game to the fourth tied at eight.
Tresser went on to score the eventual game-winning 1:45 into the fourth off a feed from Davis, his third apple of the day. Doyle's eighth of the season three minutes later doubled the JWU lead, and it remained that way until Norwich netted a goal with four seconds remaining.
Junior
Thomas Haggerty racked up 11 ground balls while Donnelly caused three turnovers. Freshman
Andrew Sforza stopped 16 shots for his fourth win of 2025.
