PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman
Morgan Pelletier smacked three home runs for the JWU (Providence) softball team as it swept a non-conference doubleheader from WPI Saturday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Game One: Wildcats 11, Engineers 2 (5 inn.)
Pelletier smacked a solo home run in the second and a two-run shot in the fifth in a nine-run win. Junior
Mady Lyons also left the yard and drove in three in the opener while sophomore
Jessica Forneiro walked off the Engineers with a three-run home run in the fifth. JWU laced 13 hits as all nine starters picked up at least one, which was more than enough support for senior starter
Katie Scheid, who held WPI to two hits and two unearned runs while striking out three.
Game Two: Wildcats 6, Engineers 2
Pelletier launched her third round-tripper of the afternoon, a three-hit jack in the fifth that extended a one-run lead to 6-2. Sophomore
Macy Pagano went 2-for-3 with a two-run single in the first while senior
Caroline Amorelli also brought in a run with a single to center. Junior
Jillian Reed allowed seven hits and two runs in 7.0 IP for her first win of the season. She walked one and punched out five.
