Anchorwomen take two from Wildcats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader at Rhode Island College Thursday afternoon at the Dayla A. Bazar Softball Complex.

Anchorwomen 4, Wildcats 2
Junior Mady Lyons drove in senior Mackenzie Clee with a single to right and sophomore Amanda Madigan scored on an error for the Wildcats, who finished the contest with seven hits, including two from both Lyons and Clee. Senior Katie Scheid allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) with two walks and one punchout in six innings of work in the circle.

Clee recorded two hits and Lyons picked up her second RBI of the afternoon with a single in the first. The Anchorwomen took the lead with two in the second before scoring six in the fourth and another in the fifth to wrap up the game. Junior Jillian Reed got the start for JWU and surrendered six hits and eight runs (two earned) in four innings of work.
