Wildcats storm back for 11-10 win over Terriers

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) men's lacrosse team rallied from a four-goal second-half deficit to defeat Thomas (ME) College 11-10 Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Senior Donny McInnis scored two of his team-high three goals during a 7-1 Wildcats run to close out the game and move his team to 2-1 on the season. Sophomore Jack Donnelly picked up two goals and two assists while sophomore Jack Davis tallied four points on a goal and three helpers, and freshman Greyson Doyle went for a goal and two assists.

The Terriers (0-2) opened up a 9-5 lead early in the third before the home team ripped off the final three goals of the third to pull to within one. Davis started the rally with his fifth of the season, followed by tallies from McInnis 39 seconds later and freshman Jacob Tresser with 57 seconds remaining in the stanza.

In the fourth, Doyle's third of the season tied the game at nine with 9:59 on the clock and senior Jackson Vecchio's first of 2025 less than one minute later staked JWU to a one-goal lead (10-9). Thomas tied the game at 10 at the 7:00 mark, only to see McInnis net the GWG with under five remaining.

Freshman goalie Andrew Sforza recorded six saves to improve to 2-1 on the season for JWU, which held a 39-28 shot advantage. Sophomore Trevor Reid caused six turnovers and finished with four ground balls, which was second only to senior Kyle Marcinko, who notched six to go with his first goal of the season.
