Golden Bears shut down Wildcats, 4-0

WEST SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The JWU (Providence) women's ice hockey team fell to University of New England 4-0 Friday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Olympia Ice Center.

Freshman Katelyn Cardoso got the start for the Wildcats and allowed four goals in the second as JWU moved to 9-10-2 (6-7-1 CNE) with the setback. Senior Sofia Tamayo came on in relief and recorded 11 saves for the Wildcats, whose 27 shots equaled the amount for the Golden Bears.

JWU went 0-for-2 on the power play and allowed two goals on WNE's seven chances with the extra attacker. Junior Zoe Tow and freshman Kailin Kane each fired off four shots for the visitors while senior captain Reese Middendorf blocked a team-high five shots.
