Wildcats roll to 38-point win over Lasers

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman and reigning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week Brianne Foley led four JWU (Providence) student-athletes in double figures with 22 points in a 90-52 win over Lasell University Tuesday night at the Wildcat Center.

Classmate Isabella Suero and Grace Jaffray each poured in 19 points for the Wildcats, who moved to 17-2 with the win (8-1 GNAC). Jaffray also snared 12 rebounds en route to her eighth double-double of the season while Suero canned five triples as JWU shot 47 percent (36-of-76) – including 53 percent in the first half.

Defensively, the Wildcats outrebounded the Lasers 47-38 and turned 16 turnovers into 18 points. They blew the game open in the second, outscoring the visitors 31-13 behind nine from Suero, six from Foley, and five from junior Mikayla Caruso. The lead grew to as many as 40 late in the third on and and-1 play from Foley.

Caruso finished the evening with 13 points while freshman Mia Cruz collected seven and seniors Maiyah Johnson (three points), Madison Clark (two points), and Kyla Thompson (two points) all found their way onto the scoresheet.
