PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore
Grace Jaffray scored a season-high 41 points for the JWU (Providence) women's basketball team in a 76-51 win over Salem State Tuesday evening in non-conference action at the Wildcat Center.
The reigning CNE Player of the Week canned six from downtown and went 15-of-18 from the charity stripe to push the Wildcats to 7-2 on the season. Jaffray played 38 minutes and also racked up six rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals.
Sophomore
Brianne Foley picked up her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 boards; all of her points came in the second half, highlighted by three 3-pointers. Classmate
Isabella Suero hit two from deep and finished with seven points and three rebounds while senior
Mikayla Caruso recorded six rebounds and four points.
The Wildcats held a three-point halftime lead (30-27) behind 19 from Jaffray before outscoring the Vikings 46-24 over the final 20 minutes. After not shooting a free throw in the first half, JWU went 20-of-26 from the line in the second (77 pct.) to help overcome 26 turnovers.
