Suffolk shuts down JWU in men's hockey

EAST BOSTON, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team fell to Suffolk University 6-0 Saturday evening in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

The Wildcats (3-5-1, 1-4-0 CNE) – who were outshot 49-23 – received 42 saves from junior Jake Inzirillo, who came on in relief of sophomore Maxim Zinchenko after he allowed two goals on four shots.

The Rams (5-3-1, 5-1-1 CNE) scored two in the first and three in the second to build a commanding 5-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. They also killed off four JWU power play opportunities.

Junior Chris Alexander led the Wildcats with three shots on goal. Senior Davis Bone won 10-of-17 face-offs, and sophomore Luke Gaffney and freshman Patrick Poirier each blocked three shots.
