Alvin Baez poured in 31 points and graduate student
Silas Sawtelle added 17 for the JWU (Providence) men's basketball team in an 84-74 loss to Nichols College Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Nichols Athletic Center.
Baez also collected eight rebounds, five assists and two steals for the Wildcats, who slid to 1-9 on the season (0-3 CNE). Sawtelle, meanwhile, gathered six boards and two steals and sophomore
Azariah Harrison went for 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
The Bison led by 19 at the break (50-31) as they knocked down 7-of-11 from downtown (63 pct.) en route to shooting 51 percent in the first half. JWU got to within eight (67-59) following a three from freshman
Landon Bodington with nine minutes remaining in the second half.
Freshman
De'Angelo Owens netted six points for the Wildcats, who also received five from Bodington and seven rebounds from freshman
Colin Rice. They finished the contest shooting 42 pct. from the field.
