Alvin Baez scored a team-high 27 points for the JWU (Providence) men's basketball team in an 86-66 loss at Mitchell College Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Yarnell Athletic Center.
Baez also collected nine boards, three steals, and a pair of blocks in 39 minutes while sophomore
Azariah Harrison added 16 points, three steals, three dimes and a pair of boards across 39 minutes for the Wildcats, who fell to 1-10 on the season.
Baez connected on 8-of-9 from the charity stripe and also knocked down three triples. Graduate student
Silas Sawtelle added nine points, three rebounds and three steals and freshman
Landon Bodington notched eight points and two steals.
The Mariners (4-6) held a four-point halftime lead (37-33) before shooting 61 percent in the second half to open up a double-digit advantage. They outrebounded JWU 41-20 and saw three student-athletes hit double-figures in scoring, led by Abdul Mansaray with a game-high 32 points.
