Alexia Labre scored her first goal of the season for the JWU (Providence) women's ice hockey team in a 2-1 overtime loss to the University of Southern Maine Friday evening in non-conference action at Lynch Arena.
Freshman
Ashley Bergeron collected her third assist of the season on the goal, which came 7:17 into the third and staked the Wildcats (4-5-0) to a 1-0 lead. The Huskies (5-6-0) tied the game less than three minutes later on a shorthanded breakaway tally from Jillian Jackson before scoring the GWG 1:49 into overtime.
Sophomore
Katelyn Cardoso turned aside 26 shots for JWU, which was outshot 28-17 and killed off four USM power plays. The Wildcats failed to convert on three PP chances of their own.
Bergeron paced the home team with four shots while junior
Sadie Davignon won 11-of-13 face-offs (85 pct.).
