Men's Basketball defeated by Blue Devils

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Freshman Colin Rice scored 13 points for the JWU (Providence) men's basketball team in a 122-57 loss at Central Connecticut State University Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Detrick Gymnasium.

Sophomore Azariah Harrison paced the Wildcats (1-6) with four triples and a team-high 16 points in 36 minutes of action. Rice, meanwhile, added six boards and four dimes in 37 minutes while freshman D'Angelo Owens chipped in with 10 points and a career-high nine assists.

JWU shot 35 percent from the field, went 9-of-34 from downtown (27 percent), and only went to the line one time. The Blue Devils – who shot an outstanding 70 percent (50-of-71) – outrebounded the Wildcats 47-20 and had six student-athletes in double-figures, led by Darin Smith, Jr. with 24 points.

Graduate student Dylan Hooter netted five points for JWU, and sophomore Thomas Kaine and freshman Landon Bodington each scored four.
