PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Sophomore Katelyn Cardoso turned aside 15 shots for the JWU (Providence) women's hockey team in a 1-0 loss to Albertus Magnus College Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at Lynch Arena.

The Wildcats outshot the Falcons 35-16 in the season opener but fell on a goal off the stick of Ellie Price with 3:56 remaining in the first period. The freshman threw a puck towards the net from the left wing boards that ricochet off a JWU student-athlete and into the net.

The Wildcats nearly tied the game midway through the second on a shot from sophomore Jordan Hopping from the high slot that hit the iron behind Falcons goalie Christmas Johnson.

Senior captain Kylie O'Keefe led JWU with six shots while Allyson Barry blocked three shots.
