PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) women's soccer team closed the regular season with a 1-1 tie with Western New England University Tuesday evening in Conference of New England (CME) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
With the draw, the Wildcats close the regular season with an 8-7-3 record and a 6-2-2 mark in conference play, which has earned them the No. 3 seed in the playoffs. JWU will host either Suffolk or WNE on Saturday night, November 1 at 7 p.m. in a quarterfinal match.
Sophomore
Bella Vena opened the scoring against the Golden Bears 10 minutes into the match when she slammed in a cross from the right side from junior
Sophia Warburton to stake JWU to a 1-0 lead. The Golden Bears knotted the match at one with a shot that deflected in off a Wildcat defender at 26:34.
The Wildcats outshot the visitors 8-3 over the final 45 minutes but were unable to find the back of the net. Freshman

Ava Vaughan each played 45 minutes and combined for two saves.

Jessica Lee paced JWU with three shots each.
