No. 8 Gulls shut down Wildcats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Sophia Brea notched 10 saves and sophomore Ava Gaudette recorded a pair of defensive saves for the JWU (Providence) field hockey team in a 5-0 loss to No. 8 Endicott College Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

The Wildcats held the Gulls off the scoreboard in the first before allowing three goals in the second, the backbreaker coming with one second remaining in the half that put them in a three-goal hole. Endicott – which improved to 17-1 with the win (7-0 CNE) – outshot the Wildcats 40-13 and received two goals from both Maddy Dengler and Lily Johnson.

Senior Caitlin Quinn led JWU with four shots while Gaudette collected a pair. The Gulls received 16 penalty corners compared to four for the home team.
