PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior
Kylie Schmidt scored the game-winning goal early in the second half to lift the JWU (Providence) women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over the University of New England Saturday evening on Senior Day in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Sophia Warburton netted her seventh goal of the season just 35 seconds into the match off a feed from senior
Katie Gallagher as the Wildcats ran their win streak to four and improved to 8-7-1 (6-2-0 CNE).
JWU outshot the Nor'easters 14-1 in the opening half and took a 1-0 lead into the break. Schmidt then netted her first of the season when she collected a loose ball near the UNE keeper and tucked it into the left side of the net at 52:11.
The Nor'easters (9-4-3, 3-2-2 CNE) cut their deficit in half with a goal at 59:06 and pressured the Wildcats for the duration of stanza, finishing with an 8-7 edge in shots over the final 45 minutes. Freshman
Kyla Stamilio notched six saves for JWU to earn her seventh win of 2025.
Prior to the start of the match, Schmidt and Gallagher, along with fellow seniors
Sophia Iovino and
MacKenna Renaud, and manager Jackson Rock, were honored for their contributions to the program.
