Sam Band scored the game-winning goal with 44 seconds remaining in overtime to send the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team to a 5-4 win over Western New England University Friday night in Conference of New England action at Lynch Arena.

Evan Gravel each recorded a goal and an assist for the Wildcats, who improved to 9-9-1 on the season (4-7-1 CNE). Sophomore netminder
Jake Inzirillo turned aside 32 shots to move to 7-6-1 in 2024-25.
The Golden Bears never led in the game. They battled back from a 3-1 deficit in the second to knot the game at three-all after 40 minutes, and later scored the tying goal with 1:58 left in regulation and their goalie on the bench.
WNE nearly ended the game midway through overtime when Justin Sullivan's shot missed ending the tilt from just outside the crease. Shortly thereafter, Torosian carried the puck through the neutral zone before hitting Band on the left wing with a pass that led to the game-winning tuck.

Bret Beale also potted goals for the Wildcats, who were outshot 36-33 – including 15-7 in the third.
