Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

O'Keefe scores late to give Wildcats 3-2 win over Golden Bears

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Junior Kylie O'Keefe scored the game-winning goal with 1:20 remaining in regulation to lift the JUW (Providence) women's ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over Western New England University Saturday evening in non-conference action at Lynch Arena.

Sophomore Sadie Davignon and freshman Marissa Lafferty scored :42 seconds apart in the second to tie the game for the Wildcats, who wrapped the night outshooting the Golden Bears 32-13 – including 17-4 in the second period.

The Golden Bears struck for two goals in a span of :19 seconds late in the first to grab a 2-0 lead. Davignon's fourth of the season cut the Wildcats deficit in half midway through the second before Lafferty's second tied the game at two.

With time winding down in the third, senior Madi Fox sent the puck towards the net from the right point that was knocked around before O'Keefe slid the puck past the WNE netminder for her third tuck of the season. Freshman Kailin Kane was credited with the primary apple on the play.

Freshman netminder Katelyn Cardoso stopped 11 shots for her sixth win of the season.
