NEW LONDON, Conn. – Freshman
RJ Jones scored a career-high 19 points for the JWU (Providence) men's basketball squad in a 75-57 loss at Colby-Sawyer Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Hogan Sports Center.
The New York-native knocked down four from downtown and finished the contest 6-of-11 from the floor for the Wildcats, who also received 11 points from senior
Josh Zangerle, nine from graduate student
Sean Duke, and six points and eight boards from junior
Izaiah Shaw-Glen.
The Chargers outrebounded the Wildcats 36-27 and shot 46 percent from the field – including 12-of-22 from three-point land (55 pct.). The home team went ahead 13-12 on a triple nine minutes into the contest and never trailed again as they built a 14-point halftime lead (37-23).
Jones connected on a three-pointer four minutes into the second half to bring the Wildcats to within nine (41-32), but that was as close as they would get. The lead swelled to as many as 22 with five minutes to go in regulation.
