POTSDAM, N.Y. – Sophomore Connor Nelson scored the only goal of the game with 4:34 remaining in regulation to send the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team home from 'The Empire State' with a 1-0 win over SUNY Potsdam Saturday evening in non-conference action at Maxcy Ice Arena.

Sophomore netminder Jake Inzirillo turned aside 44 shots in the win – his fourth game of at least 40+ saves thus far in 2024-25 – as the Wildcats evened their record at 7-7-1. The seven wins marks the most for JWU since tallying 11 during the 2016-17 campaign.

The Wildcats were outshot 44-18 but grabbed victory from the hands of defeat with Nelson potted his second of the season with assists going to senior Kadyn Fennell and freshman Luke Gaffney. Sophomore Chris Alexander paced the visitors with four shots and classmate Harout Torosian won 10 face-offs.
