Zinchekno, Hennessy lead Wildcats to 5-3 win over Kangaroos

CANTON, N.Y. – Freshman Cullen Hennessy racked up a career-high four points to propel the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team to a 5-3 win at SUNY canton Friday night in non-conference action at the Roos House.

Hennessy potted two goals and dished out two assists as the Wildcats improved to 6-7-0 on the season. Sophomore Connor Nelson, along with freshman Bret Beale and Evan Gravel, and freshman Maxim Zinchenko turned aside 46 shots to backstop JWU to its second win in its last three outings.

Beale and Hennessy struck for goals in the final 1:53 of the opening period to send the Wildcats to the locker room up a deuce. Nelson made it 3-0 9:31 into the second before Hennessey's second of the night and fourth of the season pushed it to 4-0. Gravel tucked the puck into an empty net while JWU was shorthanded at 14:08 of the third to cap the scoring for the visitors.

The Wildcats were outshot 49-11. Junior Cam Martin paced JWU with four blocked shots and sophomore Harout Torosian – who notched three apples – won 11 draws.
