Golden Bears convert late penalty stroke to down JWU, 2-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Zofia Bangs scored her third goal of the season for the JWU (Providence) field hockey squad in a 2-1 loss to Western New England University Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Sophomore Sophia Brea recorded seven saves for the Wildcats in a game that was scoreless until late in the third quarter when the Golden Bears broke through at 43:23. Bangs' marker with 33 seconds remaining in the stanza knotted the score at one before Haley Kaczka netted her second goal of the contest on a penalty stroke with 3:03 remaining in regulation.
