Salsinha records three points in 3-0 win over Lasers

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Graduate student Megan Salsinha registered a goal and an assist in the JWU (Providence) field hockey team's 3-0 win over Lasell University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Saturday afternoon at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Juniors Zofia Bangs and Emma Ferrara also scored for the Wildcats (2-3, 1-0 GNAC), who outshot the Lasers 34-6 to earn their first GNAC won of the season. Senior Izzy Ward and sophomore Rayne Millett were each credited with an assist, and both senior Haley Budenas and sophomore Hannah Geil racked up a defensive save.

The Wildcats scored the only goal they would need 11:07 into the contest when Ferrara knocked a feed from Geil into a wide open net. Bangs doubled the lead in the third on a redirection of a shot from Salsinha at 33:20 before Salsinha buried her first career goal at JWU seven minutes later.

Junior Rebecca Johnson recorded two saves to pick up her first win of the season.
