Field Hockey rolls to 12-0 win at Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) field hockey program secured a 12-0 win at Elms College Saturday morning in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Leary Field.

Junior Emma Ferrara scored three times for the Wildcats (6-3, 3-0 GNAC), who also received two goals and an assist from freshman Susannah Brown, and two tallies from both junior Zofia Bangs and sophomore Lilliana Mathew. A total of 10 student-athletes registered at least one point for head coach Lisa Lopes.

Senior Izzy Ward, along with sophomores Ava Pontes and Rayne Millett, all picked up a goal and an assist as JWU outshot the Blazers 56-0 and put the game away early with three goals in the opening 15 minutes. The Wildcats later exploded for six goals in the third, including two each from Ferrara and Mathew.

Junior Rebecca Johnson and sophomore Sophia Brea combined for a shutout in goal.
