Zofia Bangs scored twice for the JWU (Providence) field hockey team in a 5-3 loss to Roger Williams University Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Conference.

Rayne Millett also scored for the Wildcats, who fell behind 3-0 after one quarter of play and could not pull even despite outshooting the Hawks 20-7 over the final 45 minutes of action. Sophomore

Rebecca Johnson came on to start the second quarter in goal and recorded a pair of saves.
In a contest featuring programs which both began in 2013, Roger Williams scored three times in the opening 12:10 of the contest – twice on penalty corners – to build a commanding 3-0 lead. The Hawks extended their lead to 4-0 early in the third before Bangs' first goal of 2024 at 34:28 got the Wildcats on the board.

Megan Salsinha cut the RWU lead in half, and Bangs' second tally of the afternoon 4:19 in the fourth made it a one-goal game at 4-3. The Hawks added an insurance marker midway through the stanza to close the scoring.
JWU finished the contest with a 24-19 edge in shots and was awarded 15 penalty corners, compared to six for the visitors. Senior
