Wildcats knock off Framingham State to open season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Graduate student Peyton Oliver notched a match-high 12 kills and freshman Skylar Winchester added 10 to propel the JWU (Providence) volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Fitchburg State University Friday night at the Wildcat Center. The Wildcats won game one 25-20, game two 25-13, and game three 25-21.

Freshman Bailey Koopman finished her first collegiate match with five kills and three blocks while classmate Sophia Diphilippo handed out 17 assists and freshman Olivia Immel dished out 11. Winchester, meanwhile, tallied a team-leading 13 digs and five service aces, and junior Sierra Nausieda picked up 12 digs and two assists.

JWU racked up 13 blocks and held the Rams to a .068 hitting pct. – including a -.067 clip in the second set.
