Men's Soccer scores late to down Bears, 2-1

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Sophomore Christopher Vargas scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute for the JWU (Providence) men's soccer team in a 2-1 win at Bridgewater State University Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Mazzaferro Field.

Senior Brian Miller also found the back of the net as the Wildcats (1-0-0) moved to 4-0-1 in the last five season openers – all against the Bears (0-1-0). Sophomore Vincent Tredici racked up an assist on the game-winner from Vargas at 81:25 for JWU, which was outshot 16-13.

Miller's 12th career goal late in the first half gave JWU a 1-0 halftime lead. The Bears evened the match just over three minutes into the second half before Vargas' first collegiate tally propelled the visitors to victory.

Senior goalkeeper Declan Caster registered four saves to earn his third collegiate win.
