Softball closes regular season with sweep of Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) softball team closed the 2024 regular season by sweeping a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader from Dean College Sunday afternoon at the Longley Athletic Complex.

Game One: Wildcats 11, Bulldogs 1 (5 inn.)
Junior Mackenzie Clee went 2-for-3 with a two-run double and a two-run single while sophomore Jillian Reed and freshman Jessica Forneiro each recorded two hits and drove in a pair. In the circle, Clee, Reed, and senior Sage Borkowski combined to strike out nine Bulldogs.

Game Two: Wildcats 14, Bulldogs 0 (5 inn.)
Junior Caroline Amorelli has a pair of run-scoring doubles and finished the game 3-for-3 with four RBI. Sophomore Mady Lyons drove in two with a double in the first while junior Danielle Floyd went 2-for-2 with an RBI and sophomore Gabby Colace registered an RBI single. Freshman Brianna Ghilardi earned the win in relief of junior Katie Scheid as she allowed one hit in three innings of work.
