Wildcats split non-conference DH with Lyons

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) softball team split its Tuesday afternoon non-conference doubleheader with Wheaton (MA) College at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Game One: Wildcats 11, Lyons 2 (5 inn.)
Senior Julia Huzi went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI doubles and three RBI as the Wildcats posted 10 hits. Freshman Amanda Madigan also picked up three hits – including an RBI single in the fourth – as all nine starters drove in at least one run. Junior Mackenzie Clee and freshman Olivia Mason each scored twice and drove in a run to support junior Katie Scheid, who allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out five to earn her fourth win of the season.

Game Two: Lyons 4, Wildcats 2
Junior Caroline Amorelli and sophomore Mady Lyons each laced RBI singles in the sixth for the Wildcats, who finished with six hits but committed two errors which led to two unearned runs. Clee allowed two hits and three runs (one earned) in 4.2 innings of work in defeat.
