Women's lacrosse cruises past NEC for first win of 2024

HENNIKER, N.H. – Senior Maris DiBeneditto racked up 10 points on six goals and four assists in a 15-7 win for the JWU (Providence) women's lacrosse team Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Don Melander Field.

Junior Madeleine Gould added three goals and an assist for the Wildcats in first-year head coach Olivia Duarte's first collegiate win. Classmate Isabella Nugent – who paced the visitors with six draw controls and five caused turnovers – also picked up a hat trick while senior Katie Sloan collected two goals and an assist.

JWU led by four at halftime (8-4) behind three goals from DiBeneditto and a pair from both Nugent and Sloan. DiBeneditto added two more in the third as the Wildcats began to pull away from the Pilgrims, who were outshot 50-22.

Junior Emma Glyman recorded five saves for JWU, which received five caused turnovers from senior Emma Crowley and five ground balls from sophomore Zoe Tow.
