JWU closes Florida trip with wins over Heidelberg, Muskingum

CLERMONT, Fla. – The JWU (Providence) softball team wrapped its trip to The Spring Games with wins over Heidelberg (9-8) and Muskingum (5-0) at Hancock Park.

Wildcats 9, Student Princes 8
Junior Mackenzie Clee sparked a three-run sixth inning with a two-run double and finished the contest 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Mady Lyons went 3-for-3 while senior Julia Huzi was 2-for-3 with two RBI, including the go-ahead RBI single. Sophomore Jillian Reed came on in relief in the second inning and secured her second win of the season, allowing nine hits and three runs with two walks and three K's in 6.1 innings of work.

Wildcats 8, Fighting Muskies 0
Junior Caroline Amorelli went 2-for-3 with a two-run double while senior Hailey Erickson recorded two RBI as the Wildcats rolled past the Fighting Muskies. JWU struck for five runs in the third, highlighted by run-scoring singles from Huzi, Amorelli, and junior Danielle Floyd, which was more than enough run support for junior Katie Scheid. The right-handed hurler allowed just two hits over seven shutout innings to move to 3-1.
