Engineers sweep non-conference DH from Wildcats

WORCESTER, Mass. – The JWU (Providence) softball program dropped a pair of games at non-conference foe WPI Tuesday afternoon at the Rooftop Field.

Game One: Engineers 3, Wildcats 2
The Wildcats grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fourth behind an RBI double off the bat of sophomore Mady Lyons and a sac fly from freshman Gabby Bellamore. The Engineers answered with single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to secure their second win of 2024. Sophomore Jillian Reed took the loss as she allowed five hits and three runs (two earned) to go with one walk and four punchouts in six innings of work. Junior Caroline Amorelli finished with two hits for the visiting team.

Game Two: Engineers 6, Wildcats 2
Senior Hailey Erickson belted a two-run home run in the third which gave JWU a brief 2-1 lead. The Engineers tied the game in their half of the frame before putting up a 'four' spot in the fifth. Junior Katie Scheid got the start in the circle for JWU and surrendered 10 hits and five runs (four earned)  with two K's over four innings of work to fall to 3-2 on the season.
