PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Madeleine Gould scored three goals and added two assists for the JWU (Providence) women's lacrosse team in a 14-6 loss to Coast Guard Wednesday afternoon in the season-opener at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
 
Senior Maris DiBeneditto struck for two goals and junior Neely Connor also scored for the Wildcats, who received 11 saves from junior goalie Emma Glyman. The Bears outshot JWU 35-19 and forced 23 turnovers, which helped them score 10 of the first 10 goals of the contest to build a 10-2 halftime lead.
 
Gould led the Wildcats with four draw controls while Connor collected a pair of ground balls and also won two draw controls. Senior Katie Sloan caused a team-high three turnovers.
