Maris DiBeneditto scored four goals for the JWU (Providence) women's lacrosse program in a 15-8 win over Fitchburg State College Wednesday night in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.
Classmate
Katie Sloan added five points on three goals and two assists for the Wildcats (2-3), who also received three goals each from juniors
Madeleine Gould and
Isabella Nugent. JWU outshot the Falcons 33-23 and forced 32 turnovers.
JWU scored the first six goals of the contest – including two from DiBeneditto – and settled into an 8-3 halftime lead. DiBeneditto netted the first two goals of the second half to complete the hat trick and extend the lead to 10-3, and Sloan scored twice in the fourth to finish her hat trick.
Junior goaltender
Emma Glyman made seven saves to improved to 2-3. Sloan, along with juniors
Neely Connor and
Mila Kuilan, each caused three turnovers. Conner and Gould paced the Wildcats with four draw controls each while Sloan collected a team-high eight ground balls.
