Josh Zangerle dropped in a game-high 20 points as the JWU (Providence) men's basketball team handed Dean College its first loss of the season with a 66-52 win Wednesday night in non-conference action at the Wildcat Center.
The Wappingers Falls, New York native knocked down three triples and also picked up two blocks and two boards in 34 minutes of action as the Wildcats moved to 2-3 with the season. Graduate student
Mike Rogers notched 11 points and six boards while junior
Izaiah Shaw-Glen filled the stat sheet with nine points, five rebounds, and three blocks. Freshman
Roel Figueroa scored eight of his 11 points in the second half.

RJ Jones opened the game with back-to-back triples as the Wildcats raced out to an 11-2 lead. The Bulldogs responded with a 17-3 run to pull ahead by five at 19-14 with 8:42 to go. JWU still trailed by five with five minutes remaining before ripping off a 12-3 run to pull ahead 30-26 at the end of the half. Rogers led the home team with seven points while Zangerle has six, and both Jones and Shaw-Glen collected five points each.
A three-pointer from Zangerle 6:34 into the second half stretched the Wildcats lead to 10 at 42-32, and later to as many as 15 following two free throws from graduate student
Sean Duke. JWU canned 11 of its 22 shots over the final 20 minutes and closed the night shooting 47 percent. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, went 14-of-60 from the field (23 percent) and scored nearly half of their points at the charity stripe (21-of-31; 68 percent).
