Truppi scores in loss to Bison

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Senior Jianna Truppi scored her first goal of the season for the JWU (Providence) women's ice hockey team in a 4-1 loss to Nichols College Tuesday night in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Lynch Arena.

Freshman Cailean Corbally was credited with the primary assist on the goal - her first collegiate point - as the Wildcats slipped to 4-4-0 on the season (4-3-0 CNE). Freshman Katelyn Cardoso turned aside 24 shots while Chicoose blocked a team-high five shots and junior Zoe Tow won 12-of-17 face-offs (63.2 pct.).

Following a scoreless first period, the Bison (5-4-0, 2-3-0 CNE) scored twice in the opening 6:29 of the second to grab the lead. Truppi's marker at 15:56 of the second cut the JWU deficit in half before a third-period goal from Nichols at 6:39 restored its two-goal cushion.

Each team was credited with 27 shots. JWU went 0-for-1 on the PP while the Bison converted on one of their two opportunities with the extra skater.
