Men's Hockey scores six in road win at Nichols

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Freshman Bret Beale scored his first two collegiate goals for the JWU (Providence) men's ice hockey team in a 6-3 win over Nichols College Saturday evening in Conference of New England (CNE) action at Levy Rink.

Junior Cam Martin added three assists as the Wildcats (1-1-1, 1-0-1 CNE) scored a pair of power-play markers and two empty-netters to secure their first win of 2024-25. Graduate student Brendan Shandley racked up a goal and an assist while sophomore Harout Torosian had a pair of helpers.

JWU led 3-1 after one behind a pair from Beal and the first collegiate goal from freshman Luke Gaffney. The Bison cut their deficit to one with a second-period tally, but freshman blueliner Joseph Sciabarra potted his first collegiate goal at 11:05 of the third to push it to 4-2. Shandley then found the empty net with 2:35 remaining to make it 5-3 and, following a Bison goal 21 seconds later, graduate student Conner Lindsoe sealed the win with another EN goal at 19:32.

Nichols outshot the Wildcats 44-30 but were stymied time and time against by sophomore netminder Jake Inzirillo, who finished the evening with 41 saves. JWU killed off six of the seven Nichols PP opportunities.
