NORTON, Mass. – Freshman
Grace Jaffray poured in a school-record 43 points to lift the JWU (Providence) women's basketball team to a 74-51 win at Wheaton (MA) College Tuesday night in non-conference action at Emerson Gymnasium.
The Blue Hill, Maine native shot 14-of-31 from the field (44 percent) and knocked down 14-of-15 from the charity stripe (93 percent) en route to breaking the previous record of 41 set by JWU Hall of Famer Rocky Pederzani. Jaffray also snared 10 rebounds and collected five steals as JWU remained perfect on the season at 5-0 – it's best start in a decade.

Brianne Foley filled the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, and a pair of steals. Junior
Mikayla Caruso – who was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week last week – pulled down a team-leading 13 rebounds and scored six points.
The Wildcats – who never trailed in the game – took care of the ball all evening as they committed just seven turnovers while forcing the Lyons into 17. The visitors also canned 17 of their 18 free throw attempts while Wheaton was just 9-of-17 (53 percent).
