Wildcats blaze Elms for seven goals in road victory

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Sophomore Befi Wanimbo scored a pair of goals for the JWU (Providence) men's soccer team in a 7-0 win over Elms College Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's soccer action at Leary Field.

Three Wildcat goalkeepers combined for the team's seventh shutout of the season to help the squad remain unbeaten in their last 11 matches (10-0-1) and improve to 11-1-1 on the season (8-0-1 GNAC). JWU – which moved up two spots to No. 6 in this week's United Soccer Coaches regional rankings – outshot the Blazers 14-3.

The Wildcats scored four times in the first half as Wanimbo, graduate student Aidan Bagley, and sophomore Christopher Vargas all found the back of the net before an own goal capped the scoring. In the second half, Wanimbo, along with seniors Brian Miller and Tabin Molzhon, padded the visitors lead.

Senior Declan Caster secured his eighth win of the season as he played the first 9:37 before being lifted in favor of graduate student Sean Furtek. Sophomore Alexander Nardolillo closed out the match in goal.
