Men's Soccer blanks Lasell, 5-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Christopher Vargas recorded a goal and an assist for the JWU (Providence) men's soccer team in a 5-0 win over Lasell University Saturday morning in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Senior Brian Miller, along with sophomores Befi Wanimbo, Bennett Varanelli, and Vincent Tredici, all found the back of the net as the Wildcats ran their unbeaten streak to t 12 matches (11-0-1) and improved to 12-1-1 on the season (9-0-0 GNAC).

Vargas was credited for his fourth goal of the season 6:42 into the match as he redirected a clearing attempt by the Lasers into the net. Miller's fifth tally of 2024 came from graduate student Aidan Bagley and doubled the JWU lead at 14:59.

In the second half, the Wildcats struck for three goals in a span of 7:32 to account for the final score. Wanimbo and Tredici both scored on breakaways at 70:50 and 73:47, respectively, before Varanelli's second came off a feed from sophomore Bruno Teixeira.

Senior Declan Caster recorded three saves to earn his ninth win of the season in a contest which saw JWU outshoot the visitors 25-9.
