PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore
Grace Sheehan scored the game-winning goal 58:33 into the match to lift the JWU (Providence) women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Connecticut College Monday evening in non-conference action at Bayside Field.
Classmate and reigning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Year
Sophia Warburton set up the goal with a cross from the left side of the field and give the Wildcats (9-3-0) their third win in their last four matches. Additionally, the win was the 300th career victory for head coach
Chris Flint.
Following a scoreless first half which saw the Camels (4-6-0) outshoot the Wildcats 6-5, Warburton carried the ball down the field and sent a cross into the box to Sheehan, who flicked the ball past the Camels keeper and into the right corner.
Senior goalkeeper
Leah Bragaw got the start in net for the Wildcats and made four saves. Classmate
Carly McCrumb came on to start the second half and did not record a save to earn her fourth win of the season.
JWU finished the match with a 12-11 advantage in shots.
