PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The JWU (Providence) women's volleyball team was defeated in a tightly-contested Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match by Lasell University 3-0 in action Wednesday night at the Wildcat Center. The Lasers won 27-25, 25-14, and 27-25.
Freshman
Skylar Winchester paced the Wildcats (11-10, 5-2 GNAC) with 10 kills while graduate student
Peyton Oliver tallied eight and freshman
Nevaeh Arnold went for seven. Junior
Ajie Jagne collected five kills and three blocks, classmate
Sierra Nausieda racked up a team-high 10 digs, and freshman
Sophia Diphilippo handed out 18 assists.
JWU led the first set 19-11 but was unable to close out the Lasers and fell behind in the match. The visitors hit .286 in the second set to grab a 2-0 lead before rallying from a 17-11 deficit in the third set to record the win and remain unbeaten in conference play at 8-0 (17-4 overall).
Prior to the start of the match, JWU student-athletes honored professors and staff who have made a game-changing impact on their student-athlete experience as part of the University's 'Gamechanger' initiative.
