HENNIKER, N.H. – Freshman
Sadie Davignon scored her first collegiate goal in the JWU (Providence) women's ice hockey team's 3-1 win at New England College Saturday afternoon in New England Hockey Conference (
NEHC) action at Lee Clement Arena.
Sophomore
Zoe Tow scored her third goal in the last five outings and freshman
Anna Luecht also scored for the Wildcats, who outshot the Pilgrims 31-28 and won 33-of-52 face-offs (63.5 pct.). Junior
Sofia Tamayo turned aside 26 shots to earn second win in as many starts.
Luecht's second goal of the season came 47 seconds into the second and gave JWU a 1-0 lead. After the Pilgrims tied the game less than two minutes later, Davignon found the back of the net to give the visitors a 2-1 lead going to the third.
Tow's fourth goal of the season at 11:39 staked JWU to a 3-1 lead before a PP goal by NEC with 2:29 to go brought it to within one. The Pilgrims finished the game 1-for-2 with the extra skater while JWU did not receive and PP chances.
