Wildcats remain perfect with 3-0 win over Monks

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Izzy Ward scored a pair of goals for the JWU-Providence field hockey team in a 3-0 win over St. Joseph's (ME) Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) field hockey action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Freshman Rayne Millett also found the back of the cage for the Wildcats, who moved to 9-0 this season and have now outscored opponents 43-1 thus far in 2023. Ward, along with graduate students Hailey Schneider and Margaret Johnson, all collected an assist for JWU, which outshot the Monks 30-3 and held a 16-6 edge in penalty corners.

Following a scoreless the first half, the Wildcats scored the only goal they would need 2:29 into the second half when Ward potted her 10th goal of the season. Millett's seventh goal of 2023 doubled the lead at 43:01 before Ward's second marker of the day capped the scoring less than four minutes later.
