PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Graduate student Margaret Johnson and junior Izzy Ward scored goals 2:14 apart in the second quarter to propel the JWU-Providence field hockey team to a 2-0 win over the University Southern Maine Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

The win pushed the Wildcats to 8-0 for the second-consecutive season and they have now outscored opponents 40-1 thus far in 2023. JWU outshot the Camels 19-2 and held a 14-4 edge in penalty corners.

Johnson opened the scoring at 26:04 when she knocked in a ball played towards the net by sophomore Zofia Bangs. Ward doubled the lead at 29:18 when she poked in a rebound off a cross from Johnson.

Sophomore Sophia Brea recorded one save to move to 8-0 on the season.
